Incident Report: #0065 - Westisle Capsized: January 7th, 2008

Unable to locate 406 EPIRB registered to 70 ft F/V Westisle reported active anywhere from Hardwicke Island to Ladysmith.  Numerous attempts to raise  emergency contacts and vessel with no result.  Composite later formed south of Gabriola Island.  Company representative also confirmed vessel last known sounding for herring in area.  Numerous CG, CGA, CF and USCG resources tasked.  5 POB recovered themselves with the v/l's skiff and landed at Degnen Bay.  BCAS treated 5 survivors for hypothermia and transported to Nanaimo.  1 POB not accounted for and search ongoing in poor weather in snow.  Osprey - 0.7, Aux 7 - Steveston - 0.4, Aux. 27 - GB Meynell - 0.0, Siyay - 0.0, USCG6591 - 0.7, Aux 29 - Ladysmith Responder - 0.0, CORM 901 442 - 1.1, BUF 462 442 - 0.0, Cape Kuper - 0.0
